95'te kendi isimleriyle ilk albümlerini çıkaran İzlanda'lı grup GusGus, 97'de 4AD'den çıkan ikinci albümleri 'Polydistortion'la elektronik müzik takipçilerinin gönlünü derinden fethetti. Takip eden yıllarda süregiden yoğun albüm çalışmaları ve turnelerden sonra grup biraz fire vererek 3 prodüktör kaldı.
Veiran, President Bongo ve Herb Legowitz 2002 yılında en başarılı dans hitleri 'David'i içeren 4. stüdyo albümleri 'Attention'ı piyasaya sürdüler. Albümde efsane prodüktör Gareth Jones ve multi-enstürmentalist Jimi Tenor da çalıştı. Takip eden yıllarda da bir çok müzisyenle ortak çalışmaları oldu ve Pineapple, Underwater gibi plak şirketleriyle çalıştılar. 2009 itibariyle, Kompakt çatısı altına girdiler ve eş zamanlı olarak orijinal ekipten Daníel Ágúst, grupta tekrar yerini almış oldu.GusGus'ın 'President Bongo'su,11 Eylül Cuma gecesi ilk kez room4space ile birlikte Kite kabininde olacak.

Stephan Stephensen aka President Bongo wears many hats, but likes to refer to himself as 'an emotional carpenter'. And the name is fitting: throughout his illustrious career, Bongo has built, tooled, shaped and reconstructed reality in a manner that has touched upon the emotional spheres of thousands, greatly increasing their quality of life and inner harmony in the process. President Bongo began properly mastering his craft as a founding member of the pioneering electronic band GusGus, which has steadily gone from strength to strength since forming in 1995. As GusGus has evolved and progressed through the years Bongo has remained a key element, making innumerable contributions to its ongoing success through his work, which has ranged from design, film & photography to singing, songwriting, and production.
