Berio and Bartok's repertoire for 2 violins reinterpreted with a traditional music an improvised perspective. The violin and the gadulka are telling those musical 'stories' transforming them, exagerating and inventing with the material but at the same time with the will of transmitting the popular origin of the repertoire and the freedom that this repertoire allows for artistic expression.
Ruben Tenenbaum (violin) and Pauline Willerval (gadulka) both trained in the occidental classic school have both been dealing with eastern repertoire for the last past years.
"GRIZZLIES LOVE SONGS"
This band is playing with fire: from country music to makams, free improv to tormented compositions, sometimes hitting us with some melodies reminiscent of american folk music. they are exploring the possibilities of their unique orchestration (Arthur Bacon, accordion, Pauline Willerval, gadulka).
At the end of the concert those 3 musicians will join and offer us a session of improvisation.
