Consisting of seven hearts and souls (until now and sometimes more), Iya Waves was formed in the spring of 2008 with the idea of performing the peaceful and wiggling sounds of roots reggae music and similar genres. Up to present, the band has been performing in several music clubs in and around Istanbul, and more importantly in some non-profit organizations such as Barışarock�08. Iya Waves has a quite remarkable energy on stage that draws the audience readily into the positive vibrations. They have a growing repertoire in which they cover songs of the most recognized reggae artists as well as the newcomers to the reggae-dub scene. The band sometimes mingles Turkish lyrics into the arrangements in order to form its own style and to accomplish expressing themselves. Nowadays, as their first own compositions start to emerge; their strong faith in music becomes the only base for them to glorify the message of love and unity.
