Oldukça farklı müzik geçmişlerini 2008'de bir kenara bırakıp, saykodelik elementlerle süslenen ve çoğunlukla progressive house/techno arasında gidip gelen Minilogue'u kuran İsveçli Sebastian Mullaert ve Marcus Henriksson, yalnızca prodüksiyonlarıyla değil, oluşturdukları görsel dünyayla da adlarından söz ettiriyor.
İsveç her ne kadar ana akım elektronik müzik piyasasında ses getiren-markalaşan isimlerin çıkış yaptığı ülke olarak bilinse de, Malmö kentinden iki müzisyen, Sebastian Mullaert ve Marcus Henriksson 2008'den bu yana bunun tam tersini icra ediyor!
Aralarında Traum, Crosstown Rebels ve Wagon Repair'in da yer aldığı seçkin plak şirketlerinden ard arda yayımladıkları EP çalışmaları; özellikle videosu ile anımsanan 'Hitchiker's Choice' Minilogue'u, Sven Vath'ın imparatorluğu, Cocoon Records' a taşıdı. Her anı ile hem dans pisti hem de ötesi için harikulade 'Animals' albumu çift CD ve DVD olarak yayımlandı. Başta Sven Vath olmak üzere tüm Cocoon üyelerinin tam desteği ile hızla farkedildi.
Çağdaş dans müziğinin tüm ögelerini içinde barındıran, baştan sona uzun soluklu ve olabildiğince akışkan bu albüm çok ses getirdi. Aynı sene içinde remix çalışmalarını içeren bir dizi album gene Cocoon etiketiyle basıldı, Dubfire imzası taşıyan remix çalışması ile festival ve büyük oda partilerinin vazgeçilmezi oldu.
Erken zamanlarda 'Son Kite' projesi ile dünya festivallerini turlamış olsalar da artık Minilogue'un üstüne daha çok düşen ikili, Sebastian'ın klasik müzik eğitimi ve Marcus'un elektronik müzik uzmanlığıyla birleşince, tamamen serbest stil, emprovize ve canlı bir müzik ortaya çıktı.
İsveç sahnesinin en güçlü şehri Malmö, Minilogue'a ilham verirken, ikili de burayı müzikal evleri olarak benimsiyorlar. Minimal müzik tutkularından ödün vermedikleri gibi izleyicilerini başka bir algı boyutunda dolaştıran, zaman zaman üç saatlik sıradışı canlı performanslarıyla da adından sıkça bahsedilen Minilogue görsel sanatlarla da iç içe bir duruş sergiliyor.
Son olarak yayımladıkları 'Let Life Dance Thru You' ile bir kez daha ilgi odağı olan Minilogue turlamaya devam ediyor.
Klasik müzik bestecileriyle ünlü Polonya da çağdaş elektronik müziğe temsilciler kazandırmaya devam ediyor. Bunların içinde Jurek Przezdziecki, telaffuzu zor ismine zıt olarak geliştirdiği yalın fakat akılcı nitelikteki minimal müzik teorisi ile, bu sene yayımladığı 'Biscuit Symphony' ile büyük ilgi uyandırdı.
Tıpkı Minilogue gibi, Cocoon ailesinde yer alan Jurek, ılık analog ses örgüsü ve süregelen melankoliyi dışavurumcu tutumuyla birebir yansıtarak farklı yerini korumaya devam ediyor.

Lovers of electronic music have been esteeming Minilogue for many years. In 2008 it is almost impossible to imagine club music without the two musicians from Malmö, Sweden. Nowadays, electronic producers tend to retreat into their special stylistic niche - Minilogue dare to draw the bigger picture. After releasing outstanding productions on such renowned labels as Traum, Crosstown Rebels or Wagon Repair, there opus magnum is to appear on Sven Väths Cocoon Recordings. There are few producers who match Cocoon's vision of an electronic sound both on the dancefloor and beyond the club so perfectly: "Animals" covers a wide spectrum of music, it reaches from peaktime techno to beatless deep ambient. The full range of Minilogue's vision of electronic music is developed on a double CD, while the vinyl version naturally focuses on the dance tracks. The immediacy of the club tracks sweeps everything away that is circumstantial and long-winded in contemporary dance music. The tracks incorporate the elegance and simplicity of classical early Nineties' techno, the economy and lightness of the minimal sound and the sweetness and charm of the recent developments. "Animals" is not a collection of single tracks but a journey that is supposed be listened form beginning to end, it is mixed in a seamless flow.
Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson emerged from opposing backgrounds. In his youth Sebastian played a range of classical instruments, he even worked as a violin teacher in his teens. At 18 he discovered contemporary music and joined a band. Marcus used to be a fan of Front 242 and Kraftwerk, he was ravished by the repetitive beats of techno when the music exploded in the nineties. He started to organize parties of his own and became a well known DJ in southern Sweden. When Sebastian and Marcus met at a party, there was an immediate connection. With Sebastian's formal knowledge and Marcus experience with club music the two fitted together like a lock and its matching key. As Son Kite and Trimatic they became very successful in the trance scene, playing enthusiastically received live sets all over the world. With Minilogue they leave the boundaries of that genre - and actually of any genre. After having risen to the A-List of electronic producers, they still reside in the tiny city of Malmö. As boys from the countryside they enjoy the easy and humble life of a small town. At the same time Malmö has always been very important for the underground dance music scene of Sweden. Since techno and house have exploded in this country, Stockholm tends to ride the hypes and trends, while Malmö is fighting for the deeper and more minimal side of the music. That is why Sebastian and Marcus still feel strongly and passionate about Malmö as their musical home.
Minilogue have always been very interested in the visual aspect of their art, it is natural for them to create an visual image as well as an audible one. For many years they have thought of animals as the front for Minilogue. These animals do not actually exist as pets. They are mystic, imaginary creatures, merged together from different species. They function as symbols for Minilogue's approach to electronic music as a mix of different genres and styles. The production of the album was a notable effort: It took Marcus and Sebastian three years until they were entirely happy with every bit of "Animals". In order to create something timeless, they quit working on the tracks from time to time and returned with virginal ears. The result couldn't be more striking: The dance tracks remain powerful and humble, the ambient tracks are subtle and bold at the same time. Minilogue's music is emotional jet not moody. While contemporary electronic producers tend to get lost in layers of sounds and reverb, "Animals" is spring-loaded and nimble. Tracks so humble, effective and elegant they stream unremittingly into the listeners ears. The music stretches out towards the horizon in a gesture of unmitigated desire: a desire for wideness, a desire for sound, a desire for the elementary beauty of techno.
Jerzy Przezdziecki was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1973. At the age of 10, as a result of his early, classical fascination with Chopin, Beethoven and Bach, he started his piano lessons. At that time he totally felt in love with music. As the years went by, his passion was getting stronger and stronger. Studying at the Warsaw College of Art he had the first opportunity to hear some electronic - mostly new beat and industrial – music. Front 242, Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle, SPK and Coil changed Jurek's attitude for the music forever. It was no longer enough to listen. He wanted to create. No matter what music genre he's currently in, there's always one goal: originality. He never stops creating his own definition of music. Always searching for its' new emotional character and aesthetic form. Despite the strong need for harmony, he likes to experiment and goes far beyond style conventions. His inspirations come from all kinds of contemporary music. As an electronic music producer he produced 2 LPs, many EPs and single pieces. He had a chance to present his music in Japan, Australia, South Africa, Portugal, Norway, Germany and of course in Poland.
Nowadays techno and minimal music became the focus of his musical interest. He records for Boshke Beats, Whirlpoolsex music and for the Polish Recognition Records. His first EP for Traumschallplatten label is announced for the spring of 2009. Today his appetite for self development seems to be as big as it used to be. He's just started private studies of composition and contemporary music theory. The future is bright. The future is Jurek.
